Learning is continuous during life, for people intent on learning.
Training is not the same as learning. Learning is experiential, and knowledge is stored in different forms for different purposes by different people. Learning is an abstract, aka human, characteristic. It multiplies as shared knowledge in a geometric, Fibonacci manner. Imposing the concept of learning on a non-human is sometimes done for comparative purposes within models. “Trained AI algorithms LEARN how to distinguish selected people from selected images.” Uni-variate learning is not at all the same as multi-variate, complex, dynamic, multi-frequency learning accomplished by the simplest of human beings, without training.
It is debatable whether or not any trained system is actually learning, or if it is just the human(s) that trained the system that are learning, under a repetitive ingraining of bias about who is doing the learning, due to an over appreciation and wonder at what their own focused training can accomplish.
I have friends from the Capitoline Museum who would debate that question on my side, but they have been dead for almost 2000 years. Or, maybe we simply need a semantic alignment (what might be called a learning experience) disambiguating what we mean by people, as in human beings, versus other biases which seem to have crept into our lives in favor of things which have rank higher than humans in value. Is it time for an international bureau of reconciliation and standards on what constitutes the value of a human life? We know informal measures, because as bad as they are to have, they are necessary, as the last means of reconciliation between people unwilling to live together, side-by-side, on a crowded planet, and work, in peace, for solutions to problems.The Input/Output Model of the Planet Earth is not that hard to figure out. It’s a closed system. The only reason we have economic turmoil is because we all run independent, uncoordinated policies about how we all want to conduct interactive activities. At least our governments do, while the people put up with malfeasance, just like in feudal times. Except, learning about how the whole of the system works, by everybody who is a bread-and-butter stakeholder in how things operate, can do wonders for fixing what is wrong, when people are taught how to bring solutions to city hall, that dovetail with civic planning, to accomplish neighborhood desires. If we did that, we could settle the economics problem of closure between micro and macro economics, and we could develop a joint, global model for getting along, each at our own pace, in an agreed cooperative fashion, and jointly learn how to create the best life possible for our future generations to be able to plan, and succeed, in the colonization of the solar system, and figure out a way out of the place, before the furnace explodes in the basement. It’s a typical New York City tenement problems, we shouldn’t have any problem at all figuring it out.

Training is something that can be done to humans if they are driven hard enough and low enough to acknowledge that acceptance of training is the only route to survival, even though it be mimicked false acceptance of training and loss of individual liberty and rights.
Learning is something you do, to gather resources, before you rush out and try to catch dreams. Dreams are allusive and illusive. Learn where you want to go before you buy your ticket. Learn what you want to do when you get there. Learn before you jump. When you jump, SOAR. Know what you are doing, and teach others by example. If you find a new way to satisfy identified concerns, add techniques to sample, template, or exemplar solutions. If you find new uses, add new use cases. Extend learning on existing branches and generate new leafs where appropriate in a branch structure. Put it, where you last looked to find it, and it wasn’t there.
