Knowledge is a phenomenon that is observed to exist or happen within persons. Knowledge, in a form, is similar to Cyber. It only comes into an active, physical form when instantiated in execution. Knowing how to do something is demonstrated by the doing. Thinking about, or talking about doing is not doing; and thing being discussed or thought about is not the actual thing, but a process conceptualization of the act.
Representation
- cognition
- “the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses.“
Meaning defines effectiveness of communication of Signal regarding Originating Fact. Meaning can be evaluated with respect to Accuracy and Precision of communicated Understanding.
Symbol defines meaning in the same algebraic form as x defines apples. If x is supposed to be oranges in one case, houses in a second case, and farm animals in a third case; the accuracy and precision of whether x fits the case is clearly a variable which matches better in some dimensions than in others. There is a distinction between choices of all fruits, one of which is a match; and choices where there is no direct match, or choices which have better and worse relational answers. Understanding involves knowing the difference between understanding and not understanding. Not knowing the difference is not understanding.
Human Intelligence consists of understanding what we didn’t understand before. Intelligent Evolution is synonymous with Human Evolution and includes Human Learning. The concern is whether and how we apply it today toward what we already know, and how to make beneficial things more probable. That’s planning. That’s the current and forward side of architecting the future.
- You can’t get to tomorrow until it happens; but you can plan for what to do when it gets here.
- Today is all you have to work with; now isn’t a concept, it’s the only reality you’ll ever have.
- The past exists as fuel for Today that needs steering toward continuant goals based on the occurrent situation.
Understanding as it exists in the mind of a single individual is an un-shareable unquantifiable; except through the use of Symbols. Symbols provide the mechanism to share1Sharing can be internal, self notation; or shared in confidence with others as individuals or groups. Understanding is different and Meaning varies with audience. meaning of Object in Abstract form.
Symbols also provide the mechanism for meta abstraction, as is done with algebraic notation when using x for an arbitrary fruit as a set of desired answers.
Physical Space is a meta abstraction of orthogonal or polar form which allows the determination of Physical Objects with respect to each other. Space is a Concept of distance and betweenness. There are standard translations to move between systems and define the same object or position in space according to either abstraction scheme.
Discussions of real Physical Space convey meaning between participants by means of conveyance and agreements upon common symbol sets describing reasoning that flow to concurrence of opinion on the probability of truth to any proposition offered.
For purposes of modeling hierarchies of abstractions of objects industry groups have evolved on a set of uniform modeling conventions related to cyber systems.

Concept Conceptualization
Fig. 3-15 on pg 194 shows similar geometry between upper and lower meaning triangles. This is what is related in the fig 3.14 on the prior page. This is also similar to what we want to use as a QFD chain for understanding of effectiveness. This works into routine Six Sigma, and can include geometric hierarchies.
The exponential missing factor is the difference in understanding between similar and congruent concepts. Similar concepts need to be referentially translated. Congruent concepts can be directly applied.
- If Symbol of Object is Symbol of Concept, then Symbol of Object provides direct map to Concept of Representation.
- This is true for all related Concepts mapped using a common Symbolic Form (symbol schema, access key)
